Company profile

Platmin (PPN:TSX, AIM) is incorporated in Canada as a mineral exploration and development company focused on the exploration and development of platinum group metal (PGM) deposits in South Africa. Platmin is listed on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange Plc (AIM) and the main board of the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada (TSX).

Platmin’s goal is to become a significant producer of PGMs through the development and operation of several key projects into mines. All four of Platmin’s key projects – Pilanesberg, Mphahlele, Grootboom and Loskop – are located on the Bushveld Complex of South Africa, a geological structure that is estimated to contain approximately 90% of the world’s PGM resources as well as some 80% of its chrome. Approximately 55% of Global PGM production and more than 70% of platinum production currently comes from this Bushveld Complex of South Africa. Platmin’s experienced team and quality PGM projects, present both a development pipeline and growth potential, positioning the company to become an important independent producer of PGMs over the next few years.

The company is led by a highly–experienced management team and board of directors including professional geologists, engineers, financiers and metallurgists, with extensive relevant PGM exploration, development and operating experience.

Platmin has Joint Venture agreements with, and is in business with, several major PGM producers including Anglo Platinum on the Pilanesberg Project area, Lonmin Plc on its Loskop Project and BHP Billiton and Samancor Chrome on its Grootboom project, all situated on the PGM–bearing Bushveld Complex of South Africa.

Platmin has a strong share register including: Lonmin - Plc the world’s third largest platinum producer (approx 17.40%); Karrick Group, a family trust of the Mittal Family (Mittal – Acelor) (approx 21.11%); Mineral Securities (17.69%), an Australian based fund; CDC (Actis) (approx 13.03%) a fund of the British Government.

Platmin’s BEE partner, the Moepi group of companies (Moepi), is headed by Mr Kwape Mmela. Mr Mmela is Chief Strategic Officer of the Platmin group of companies. Moepi holds an interest of approximately 26.80% in Boynton Investments, Platmin’s operating subsidiary in South Africa – a percentage which exceeds the 26% required by law for BEE ownership in the mining industry to be attained by April 2014.
